Old gnarled man decides to build a 3 legged milking stool (maybe looking at a picture of somebody milking a cow on one, on his wall.) His house is an old barn like cute thing. Very rustic.

He goes into the woods and gets trees for it, etc.
All very rustic, uses hand tools.

But he makes a huge stool.
This remains a mystery throughout the book, why he is making it so big.
Then he dons tomte clothes and goes into a real big people sized barn, puts the stool down. climbs up on it, puts this cane/stick down that he has been carrying the whole time, sits on it as a one legged stool, and milks the cow.
untill he dons tomte clothes, very cleaverly and carefully make sure not to have anything in the pictures to give off his size. Have him have the stick with him all the times in the pictures.
